I headed back to Texas a little earlier than I usually do, and the stubborn Texas heat reminded me why I prefer to stay away until at least fall! 97 degrees? No thank you. Heading south, I saw so many other club members, each a great reminder of the fun we had and the promise of more to follow.
I ran into friends at a Harvest Host location (Golden Prairie Bison) in Valentine, Nebraska. It is a beautiful location with great hosts and lots of bison offerings in the shop. It was a warm night, so we were all glad once the sun went down. I’ve been a member of Harvest Hosts since 2016 and have even repeated visits at some favorite spots across the country. I’m sure I will return to this one as well. You just can’t beat having a host surprise you with a basket of fresh-picked veggies right from her garden.

Next week, better weather is expected and I am ready for sweater weather.
The heat this year has been brutal for so many folks across the country and the world that I’m rooting for them all to enjoy a nice cooldown. Next week we head to Santa Fe, New Mexico, with friends to experience Camp Airstream. I’ve heard rave reports from folks who have been to the Yellowstone and Nashville events so I am sure Santa Fe will also be spectacular.
It also means I’ll be packing the Airstream for higher elevations, easy comfortable days and cooler overnight temperatures. It may even be time for closed-toe shoes.
Upon arriving home, Quinn took refuge among the blankets in the closet to avoid the air conditioning. She hates it.
Cooler weather also means more knitting and spinning. I guarantee wherever you find me camped out this fall, I will be working on some projects. See below:

For now, we will venture onward and upward and appreciate all that the beautiful state of New Mexico has to offer and we will report back about our experiences.
It is my wish for you all that the fall weather finds you gathered with friends around the campfire, sharing stories, and a good snack. May you all have safe travels and meet many new friends along the way.
