And so it begins. I get these little spaces to fill you in on what’s what and what’s up!
As many of you know, I’m a knitter and spinner (I spin my own yarn often from wool or other fibers purchased in my travels) as well as a sewist and I basically work with all kinds of fibers.
I’ve always been a fidgeter and these crafts help me focus and stay on track. Some of you have seen me even knitting at my campsite or another gathering. I think the next year or so will produce many finished products as we work on club business throughout my term as your President.
The fiber of WBCCI is its members. Together, you have woven an organization that means many things to many people. It’s a social club, a camping club, a travel club, and so much more. What we put into it determines the value and strength of what we get out of it. For me, the club represents my chosen family. The first few months in, I learned lessons from new friends that I will never forget. Without judgement, they showed me all sorts of how-tos!
Now 10 years later, I smile when I can pass that knowledge on to some new member. Sharing information, instruction, directions, tips and travel ideas comes naturally to club members. Never be afraid to ask.
In the coming months, I hope to bring you details on future club plans, some personal travel adventures and, of course, cat pictures. Because my travel buddy Quinn, the orange menace, is always by my side, checking up on me. She has been an Airstream cat since the week I adopted her.
She was just seven weeks old and had no clue what she was in for! But she has become my trusted sidekick; a social butterfly who loves to meet new people.
It’s my hope to meet so many new friends as we travel from rally to rally. I’m ticking off bucket list adventures again this year, and I hope you’ll share your favorite destinations and events with me.
What’s Next?
My next rally is right here at home at the North Texas Airstream Park. We have a gathering called Wally’s Workshop. Hosted by the North Texas Airstream Club, the workshop will feature technical guidance, great food, and fun. I plan to have a few adjustments made to my 1980 Caravelle so she is in ship-shape for the travel season.
So, if it’s here in Texas or Minot, North Dakota, or somewhere down the road, I look forward to seeing you.
